The Wild West is still as wild as ever in Old Nevada, a replica of an 1880's mining town built on the 115-acre Bonnie Springs Ranch.

Las Vegas is the epitome of the fast-paced, ultra-modern city - swank, glittering, and exciting; but just a short, 25 mile drive away, you can visit the past again. Bonnie Springs Old Nevada is John Wayne country. Boarded sidewalks that creak pleasantly under your feet, saloons, tumbleweeds, stagecoaches, and even a Boot Hill Cemetery.

Bonnie Springs Old Nevada is a great place for the entire family and there are lots of attractions for the kids, including a petting zoo, cowboys and cowgirls, and on weekends and holidays, a miniature train ride, and a "posse" show where the kids can even help track down the 'bad guy". This little old mining town offers plenty of rousing, rough-and-tumble action, simulated gunfights in the streets, an 1830's melodrama complete with mustachioed villain in our authentically recreated Saloon, and even a public hanging, with an obliging Stuntman swaying in the wind. All shows are kids friendly and we encourage audience participation.

In addition to our gunfights and cowboys, there's a wax museum with figures from our frontier history, we serve great homemade meals in our restaurant, a beautiful and romantic 1800's style wedding chapel, along with convention facilities, and plenty of shopping for those looking for turquoise and silver and other western souvenirs. Bonnie Springs Old Nevada is an adventurous outing for the whole family.

Bonnie Springs Ranch was originally built in 1843 as a stopover for the wagon trains going to California down the Old Spanish Trail. In 1846, General Fremont, on his way to California, stopped at what is now Bonnie Springs Ranch to gear up for his trip through Death Valley. Since 1952, the ranch has been used as a tourist attraction. Often called "an oasis in the desert", where you can stop for a cool drink of spring water.

Bonnie Springs Ranch got its start back in the early 1950's when Al Levinson, a recently arrived New Yorker, met and married Las Vegas dancer and showgirl, Bonnie McGaugh. Bonnie passed her strong love for the West and its historic past onto her husband, and together they ambitiously decided to recreate and preserve as much of the wild and woolly old Nevada as they could. Levinson began building the little mining town of Old Nevada back in the early 1970's after doing extensive historical research and slowly gathering artifacts from the 1880's. Bit by bit, and piece by piece, Old Nevada grew, built really upon the curiosity and energy of Al and Bonnie.

Today the grounds are a delight for locals and tourists alike. There is a fine dinner house and a quaint cocktail lounge. We have a wide variety of animals for you to see in our zoo. Both native and non-native, including Simba the Canadian Lynx and our beautiful wolves. We have a large stable of horses for your riding pleasure, pony rides for the kids and an adorable motel with fireplace rooms and Jacuzzi tubs. The joy and adventure of visiting Bonnie Springs Ranch really begins as soon as you start from Las Vegas. In the thirty minutes it'll take you to reach our town, you'll experience a desert wonderland of cacti, plants, and unique trees: The Yucca, the Barrel Cactus, the Prickly Pear, and the Joshua. You will see what is called "The Lord's Candle". the long stem that grows out of the center will burn for hours like a torch. The prospectors and settlers used them for light long before lanterns were abundant or even available.

When you reach Bonnie Springs, you'll see that we are nestled at the foot of majestic peaks. the colorful bluffs are a monument of historic mysteries. in fact, from the porch of our museum you'll see a door-like slab carved in the face of one of our peaks. the logical speculation is that it was an Indian altar but no one knows for sure. It is these things, however, and things like this that make a visit to Old Nevada so wonderfully unusual and so enjoyable to young and old alike.

If you're lucky you will see some of Nevada's wild life that roams free beyond the canyon walls. There are wild donkeys, horses, coyotes, polecats, badger, deer, elk, and big horn sheep. And, along with the poisonous sidewinder and green Mojave, there is the only poisonous lizard in the United States - The Gila Monster.

Inside Old Nevada you'll find no false fronts. We pride ourselves in being a real town. Along with our western town, saloon, and shops, there is also a petting zoo, our famous Bonnie Springs Ranch Restaurant, and horseback riding for the whole family. At Bonnie Springs Old Nevada, we boast a very special enchantment - You don't look at the Old West, you live it!

Las Vegas Casino Implosions : Aladdin, Dunes, Sands, Landmark, Hacienda, Stardust, Boardwalk, Castaways, El Rancho Implosion Videos On to the BIG Casino in the sky... While it is always sad to see one of the grand dames of Las Vegas bite the dust, we must remember... without their demise we would not have Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Wynn Las Vegas, Aladdin (again), and a giant parking lot where the Landmark stood. They say that when Las Vegas does something, it does it huge. Massive casinos, massive hotels, huge bets, huge parties, birthday cakes the size of a warehouse. Not to be satisfied with a simple wreckingball, Las Vegas has turned the destruction of its casinos into full fledged entertainment featuring fireworks, jetfuel explosions, bomb blasts and cannon fire. What a better way to send off an old friend than with a blowout - literally. We present to you some miniature video captures of Vegas casino implosions below. Click the photo to start the video. Implosion of the Aladdin Aladdin is one of the few casinos to be imploded then rebuilt with the same name. Opened April 1, 1966 (after a few years at the Tally Ho) the venerable Aladdin was imploded April 27, 1998, 32 years (almost to the day) since its opening. Implosion of the Dunes The Dunes, along with the Sands and the Desert Inn were the three kings of the Las Vegas strip from the 1940s & 50s until they each met their demise in the 1990s. The Dunes was fired upon by the TI adjacent Brittania causing the Dunes to become engulfed in flames and come crashing to the earth. From the ashes rose Bellagio which opened in 1998. Implosion of the Hacienda The Hacienda was the southernmost resort on the Las Vegas Strip standing as gatekeeper into Vegas for 30+ years. I was purchased by Circus-Circus in 1995 and imploded to make way for Mandalay Bay in a nationally televised event on December 31, 1996. Implosion of the Landmark Famous for its appearance in Mars Attacks, the International Hotel and Casino was built by Howard Hughes in the late 1960s in a competition with Kirk Kerkorian's neighboring International Hotel (Now the Las Vegas Hilton). The Landmark with its iconic observation deck was imploded on November 7, 1995 Implosion of El Rancho The second El Rancho on the Strip (the first was destroyed by fire in 1960) stood on the grounds of the historic Silver Bird and Thunderbird casinos. It stood vacant on the strip for many years with a sorry marquee that pronounced the pending opening of "Countryland". Countryland never came to be as El Rancho was imploded October 3, 2000. Turnberry Estates and the coming Fontainebleau Casino sit on the land where the second El Rancho once stood. Implosion of the Sands After 44 years anchoring the Las Vegas Strip and inventing Las Vegas Cool with it's magical "Summits" featuring The Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford, the Sands was imploded to make way for Venetian on November 26, 1996 Implosion of the Stardust The Stardust anchored the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip for nearly 50 years from its opening in 1958 until its closure and implosion on March 13, 2007. Stardust will be replaced by a new mega-resort called Echelon Place. Video taken by LeavingLV.net. Implosion of the Boardwalk The Boardwalk Hotel and casino opened in 1969 as a Holiday Inn Casino. It skimmed along as a second (or third) tier property until it was closed in January 2006 and imploded on May 9, 2006. City Center is currently being built where Boardwalk once was. Implosion of Castaways Castaways was a locals casino on the outskirts of downtown, it was imploded with little fanfare in 2006. This is not the Castaways that was on the Strip.
